  • Oil (for deep frying)

For the Honey Chilli Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1 green chili (sliced, optional for extra heat)
  • ½ cup red and green bell peppers (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp red chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • ½ tsp vinegar
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp spring onions (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate and Fry the Chicken

  1. In a bowl, mix chicken pieces with cornflour, all-purpose flour, egg, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Coat well.
  2. Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium heat.
  3. Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel.

Step 2: Prepare the Honey Chilli Sauce

  1. In a separate pan, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped garlic, ginger, and green chili. Sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add sliced bell peppers and stir-fry for a minute.
  4. Pour in soy sauce, red chili sauce, and tomato ketchup. Mix well.
  5. Stir in honey, vinegar, red chili flakes, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 3: Combine and Serve

  1. Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss well to coat evenly.
  2. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
  3. Serve hot as an appetizer or side dish. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a healthier version, you can air-fry or bake the chicken instead of deep-frying.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding or reducing the chili flakes and green chilies.
  • Serve with fried rice or noodles for a complete meal.
  • Add more honey if you prefer a sweeter taste.
