For the Fried Chicken:
- 500g boneless chicken (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- Oil (for deep frying)
For the Honey Chilli Sauce:
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
- 1 green chili (sliced, optional for extra heat)
- ½ cup red and green bell peppers (thinly sliced)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp red chili sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp honey
- ½ tsp vinegar
- ½ tsp red chili flakes
- ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 tbsp spring onions (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Marinate and Fry the Chicken
- In a bowl, mix chicken pieces with cornflour, all-purpose flour, egg, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Coat well.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium heat.
- Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
Step 2: Prepare the Honey Chilli Sauce
- In a separate pan, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped garlic, ginger, and green chili. Sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.
- Add sliced bell peppers and stir-fry for a minute.
- Pour in soy sauce, red chili sauce, and tomato ketchup. Mix well.
- Stir in honey, vinegar, red chili flakes, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Step 3: Combine and Serve
- Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss well to coat evenly.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
- Serve hot as an appetizer or side dish. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a healthier version, you can air-fry or bake the chicken instead of deep-frying.
- Adjust the spice level by adding or reducing the chili flakes and green chilies.
- Serve with fried rice or noodles for a complete meal.
- Add more honey if you prefer a sweeter taste.
